Healthy cities for healthy people
Date: 14 October 2026 | Location: Barcelona
On 14 October 2026, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and the College of Architects of Catalonia (COAC) will host a workshop–discussion in Barcelona exploring how the environment in which we live directly influences our health. Through dialogue between the public and experts in the exposome, environmental health, architecture, and urban planning, the event will highlight how everyday factors such as air quality, noise, the presence of urban green spaces, street design, or the way we move around the city shape our physical and emotional well-being.
The session will introduce key concepts of “healthy urbanism” and the exposome, helping participants understand how different urban planning decisions can benefit or harm the health of thousands of people. It will also showcase open tools that make it possible to explore urban health indicators and compare cities, fostering an informed public capable of interpreting data about their own environment. In addition, practical demonstrations of environmental sensors and healthy building materials will be carried out.
